Create and customize your peer-to-peer fundraiser preset
Last updated: July 13, 2026
A peer-to-peer (P2P) preset is a reusable template that controls how individual fundraiser pages look and behave. When supporters create their own fundraiser, they start from your preset—so the preset is where you set defaults, lock down anything that should stay consistent, and decide how much each fundraiser can customize.
This article walks through creating a preset and configuring each of its four settings tabs in Dashboard v2.
Before you start
Two concepts will come up on almost every setting, so it helps to understand them up front.
Fixed vs. default. Most settings have a Fixed checkbox alongside the value field.
When Fixed is checked, the value you set is locked. Every fundraiser created from this preset uses exactly that value and cannot change it.
When Fixed is unchecked, the value you set is just a starting default. Each fundraiser can edit it on their own page.
Use Fixed for anything that needs to stay consistent across all fundraisers (like designation or end-date behavior), and leave it unchecked for things you want individuals to personalize (like goal, name, or description).
Create a new preset
From P2P Templates, select Create P2P Template (the + option).
In the Create P2P Template dialog, enter a P2P Template name. This is the internal name you’ll use to identify the preset.
Select Create P2P Template.
The preset is created and set to Live, and you’re taken straight into its settings. You can rename it later, so don’t worry about getting the name perfect now.
Every preset has its own page at a URL like https://your-org.wegive.com/your-org/p2p-preset/name. From the preset header you can also Implement the preset (to embed or share it) or Archive it when it’s no longer in use.
Configure your preset settings
Preset settings are split across four tabs in the left-hand menu: Overview, Setup, Appearance, and Dates. Make your changes, then select Save Changes on each tab.
Overview
Controls the preset’s identity and the fundraiser’s name.
P2P Preset Name — The internal name for this preset (the same name you entered when creating it). Edit it here anytime.
Slug — The portion of the preset’s URL that identifies it. Editing the slug changes the preset’s web address.
Fundraiser Name — Sets the default name for fundraisers created from this preset. Check Fixed P2P Fundraiser Name to lock the name so all fundraisers share it; leave it unchecked to provide a default that each fundraiser can change.
Setup
Controls fundraising goals, checkout, post-end-date donations, and designation.
Fundraising Goal — Define a default goal amount. Check Fixed Fundraising Goal to lock it for every fundraiser, or leave it unchecked so individuals can set their own goal.
Checkout — Search for and choose the checkout supporters will use when donating through this preset.
Allow Donations After End Date — Decide what happens once a fundraiser’s end date passes. Choose Default Allow Donations After End Date or Default Disallow Donations After End Date, and check Fixed “Allow Donations After End Date” Button to lock that behavior for all fundraisers.
Designation — Choose where donations are directed. Check Fixed Designation to lock the designation, then search for and select the designation to use.
Appearance
Controls what shows on the fundraiser page and how it looks.
Leaderboard Visibility — Choose Default Show Leaderboard or Default Hide Leaderboard. Check Fixed Leaderboard Visibility to lock the choice.
Activity Visibility — Choose Default Show Activity or Default Hide Activity. Check Fixed Activity Visibility to lock the choice.
Fundraise Button — Choose Default Show Fundraise Button or Default Hide Fundraise Button. Check Fixed Fundraise Button to lock the choice.
Background Photo — Upload a default background image (click to upload or drag and drop a JPG). Check Fixed Background Photo to use the same image across all fundraisers.
Description — Use the rich-text editor to set default page copy. Check Fixed Description to lock the description so it’s the same on every fundraiser.
Dates
Controls the fundraising window.
Start Date — Select a default start date. Check Fixed Start Date to lock it for all fundraisers.
End Date — Select a default end date. Check Fixed End Date to lock it for all fundraisers.
Save and publish
Select Save Changes on each tab where you’ve made edits. A new preset is Live as soon as it’s created, so your settings apply to fundraisers right away. When a preset is no longer needed, use Archive in the preset header to take it out of circulation.
Tips
Lock (Fix) only the settings that truly need to be consistent—over-fixing removes the personalization that makes peer-to-peer fundraising effective.
Set a clear default goal and description even when they aren’t fixed; supporters often launch their page without editing them.
Use Implement in the preset header when you’re ready to embed or share the preset.
