The Donor Portal in WeGive is a secure, branded space where donors can manage their giving. It acts as a central hub where supporters can view their payment history, update payment methods, manage recurring donations, access impact stories, start fundraisers, and more. You can fully customize the look, navigation, and available features to align with your organization’s brand and goals.
Accessing Donor Portal Customization
To begin:
- Go to the Donor Portal tab in your WeGive dashboard.
- Click Customization to open the settings interface.
You’ll find three main configuration sections:
- Setup
- Profiles
- Navigation
1. Setup Tab
Organization Info
- Logo: Upload your organization's circular logo. It appears in both the donor portal and on checkouts.
- Organization Name: Define how your organization name appears throughout the portal and checkout.
- Primary Color: Choose your brand color using a hex code or from the color picker.
Tab Info
- Favicon: Upload a tab icon to display in the browser tab.
- Tab Name: Customize the browser tab’s title with your organization’s name.
2. Profiles Tab
This section controls what donors can see and do inside their profile.
Appearance
- Enable Group Roll-Ups: Show donor giving history at the household or group level.
Settings
- Hide Supporter Info: Hide personal info sections within the donor portal.
- Disable Supporter Info Edit: Lock supporter details to prevent editing.
Authentication
- 2FA Login Options: By default, WeGive uses two-factor authentication via SMS or email. You can restrict login to just one method if desired.
Communication Preferences
- Global Unsubscribe Option: Show a “Do Not Contact” preference to let supporters globally opt out of marketing communications.
Badges
- Display badge icons to gamify donor behavior. You can:
- Enable or disable individual badges.
- Rename badges.
- Default badges include:
- Added a payment method
- Made a donation
- Active recurring donor
- Started a fundraiser
- Met fundraising goal
- Added a payment method
- Enable or disable individual badges.
Lifetime Impact
- Show total giving across multiple categories (last 9 months):
- Donations
- Fundraised donations
- Referred donations
- Pledged donations
- Soft credits
- Donations
- Customize which categories are included.
Impact Cards & Stories
- Enable or disable the display of Impact Cards and Impact Stories.
Visibility
- Control how donors see each other across events, fundraisers, and other shared experiences.
- Choose to keep all participation private or selectively visible.
Recurring Plans
- Lock or unlock the ability for donors to manage their Recurring Plans.
Peer-to-Peer Fundraising
- Allow or restrict donors from launching a P2P fundraiser directly from the donor portal.
Pledges
- Enable or disable donors from creating new Pledges via the portal.
Tax Documents
- Allow donors to download tax receipts for selected years.
- Use the Custom Tax Document Builder to design your own tax receipts using merge tags (like in the email editor).
- Enable Canadian Tax Receipting to allow downloads per transaction and provide CRA-compliant receipts (requires issuer name, role, and signature).
3. Navigation Tab
Customize the menu and page layout of the donor portal.
Menu vs. Header
- Menu: Appears as a dropdown when clicking the donor’s name in the top-right corner.
- Header: Displays persistent navigation across the portal’s top.

You can also control visibility of the following:

Default URLs
- Default Checkout URL: Link used behind your main donation button (will display the default checkout selected under the Navigation section)
- Default Registration URL: Link to log users into their donor portal.
These URLs can be found at the top of the Donor Portal customization page and should be used strategically in your website’s navigation or donation buttons.
Add Custom Buttons
- Create new buttons with a title, description, destination URL, and optional icon.
- These buttons appear in the donor portal menu or header and can direct users to external pages.
Tips for Implementation
- Use the Preview button at the top of the customization page to test your changes in real time.
- Be sure to test both desktop and mobile views.
