Guide to the Messages Table and Message View Page

The Messages Table and Message View Page are essential tools for tracking, managing, and analyzing all communication sent through the WeGive platform, including emails, SMS, platform messages, and handwritten messages. These tools allow organizations to have an overview of message performance and audience engagement, making it easier to manage communication strategies.

Accessing the Messages Table

To access the Messages Table, navigate to the Engagements tab in your dashboard and click on Messages. The table provides a comprehensive view of all messages sent through the platform, offering insights into their performance and status.

Key Features of the Messages Table

  • Message Details: Each message in the table displays key information:

    • ID: The unique identifier for the message.

    • Name & Description: The name and description of the message.

    • Status: The current status of the message, such as "Live", "Draft", "Sent", or "Scheduled".

    • Channel: The communication method used, e.g., Email, SMS.

    • Delivery Metrics:

      • Number Sent: How many times the message has been sent.

      • Delivered Rate: The percentage of successfully delivered messages.

      • Open Rate: The percentage of recipients who opened the message.

      • Click Rate: The percentage of recipients who clicked on any link within the message.

  • Filters: You can filter messages by:

    • Status: Live, Not Live, or Sent.

    • Type: Triggered, Regular, or Journey Series messages.

    • Event: Filter by specific events like payment success, recurring donation creation, or donor profile creation.

    • Campaign: If the message is linked to a specific campaign.

    • RSS Feed: If the message is connected to an RSS feed.

    • Communication List: Filter by lists where donors can opt in or out.

    • Channel: Email, SMS, or Mail.

Message View Page

When you click on a specific message in the Messages Table, you'll be directed to the Message View Page, where you can see detailed information about that particular message.

  • Message Overview:

    • Type of Message: Indicates whether it's a manual or triggered message.

    • Audience Group: Displays the target audience of the message.

    • Schedule: The scheduled send time for the message.

    • Delivery Method: The method used for sending the message (e.g., Email, SMS).

  • Message History: View the history of the message, including:

    • Sent Messages: The total number of messages sent.

    • Delivered Messages: The number of successfully delivered messages.

    • Opened Messages: The number of opened messages.

    • Clicked Messages: The number of messages with at least one click.

  • Message Analytics: Provides performance data for the message:

    • Graphical Insights: View a graph that displays metrics like delivery, open, and click rates over time. The x-axis can be adjusted to display data by minutes, hours, days, or months.

    • Conversion Analytics: If the message includes a checkout URL, you can analyze its performance, including:

      • Checkout Sessions: Count of checkout sessions triggered by the message.

      • Sessions Converted: Number of sessions that resulted in a donation.

      • Session Conversion Rate: The conversion rate of sessions that became donations.

      • Message Conversion Rate: The conversion rate based on the message’s performance.

      • Total Conversion Rate: Combined session and message conversion rate.

      • Revenue Graph: Track revenue generated from the message over time.

  • Supporter List: A detailed list of supporters who received the message:

    • Supporter Name & Email: See the supporter’s name and the email address they received the message at.

    • Send Time: When the message was sent to each supporter.

    • Message Preview: Click on the preview icon to see what the message looked like for the recipient.

Marketing Analytics

The Marketing Analytics section is particularly useful when analyzing messages that contain links to checkouts. This section includes:

  • Checkout Performance: Detailed metrics on how checkout links within the message performed, such as the number of sessions generated, conversion rates, and total revenue.

  • KPIs: Key Performance Indicators, showing metrics like message open rates, click rates, conversion rates, and overall organizational KPIs related to message engagement.

Consent and Subscription Updates

The Consent Updates section shows any changes in subscription status resulting from the message:

  • Subscription/Unsubscription: Displays changes in subscriber status, whether a supporter opted in or out of receiving future messages.

  • Contact Settings Update: Indicates changes in the global "Do Not Contact" status for recipients.

    • Supporter Name & Email: Shows which supporters have updated their communication preferences.

    • Total Donations: Displays the total amount donated by supporters who updated their contact preferences.

Payments, Recurring Plans, Pledges, and Checkout Sessions

The Message View Page also shows details related to financial activity linked to the message:

  • Payments: A list of payments associated with the message, including the payment ID, date, amount, fee, supporter, and designated fund.

  • Recurring Plans: Information on recurring donations linked to the message, including the plan ID, amount, frequency, fees, and total value.

  • Pledges: Data on pledges associated with the message, including pledge ID, amount, frequency, and start/end dates.

  • Checkout Sessions: Detailed information about checkout sessions triggered by the message, such as session ID, donor details, conversion rate, and source of the checkout.

Additional Options

Under the More dropdown in the top-right corner of the Message View Page, you can:

  • Duplicate a message to create an identical copy.

  • Archive the message if it’s no longer needed.

  • Resend the message to supporters if necessary.
