The Reports feature in WeGive allows your organization to generate and download a CSV file containing all year-end tax statements for your donors. This tool is especially useful during tax season, providing a consolidated file of all relevant supporter tax receipts for a selected year.
What Is the Reports Feature?
The Reports section provides access to bulk downloads of tax receipt data for a given calendar year. It simplifies donor reporting and helps organizations fulfill compliance and transparency requirements.
You can use it to:
- Export all year-end tax statements
- Retrieve documentation for auditing
- Store tax receipts securely in external systems
Where to Find It
- Navigate to the Settings tab in your WeGive dashboard.
- Click on Reports.
How to Download Year-End Tax Statements
Step 1: Select the Tax Year
- Choose the year for which you want to export tax statements (e.g., 2024).
- This applies to donations made and receipts issued within that calendar year.
Step 2: Click “Download Year-End Statements”
- After selecting the year, click the Download Year-End Statements button.
- WeGive will begin generating a CSV file that includes all supporter tax receipts for that year.
Step 3: Access the File from the Exports Table
- Depending on how many supporters and statements are included, the file may take a few minutes or hours to generate.
- Once ready, the CSV will appear in your Exports Table under the Data tab.
- From there, you can download and open it in any spreadsheet tool (Excel, Google Sheets, etc.).
Additional Tax Statement Options
This report is just one of several ways to provide tax documentation to your supporters. Other options include:
- Donor Portal: Supporters can log in and download their own year-end tax statements.
- Triggered Messages: You can send tax statements through custom messages using dynamic variables.
- Individual Download: You can download a tax statement for any single supporter from their Supporter Record view.
Use the Reports section when you need a full export for internal records or mass processing.
Best Practices
- Generate your export early in tax season to allow time for review.
- Use filters or tags in the Supporters Table to cross-reference the CSV.
- Store a copy of each year's export securely for recordkeeping and compliance.
