How to View and Manage a Donor’s Payment Method on File

This guide explains how to find and manage a donor's payment method on file within WeGive.

How to View Payment Methods on File for a Donor

  1. Go to the Supporter Record

    • Navigate to the supporter record by searching for their name in the Supporters section.
  2. Click on the "Related" Tab

    • Once inside the supporter record, select the "Related" tab.
  3. Scroll to the Payment Methods Section

    • Locate the Payment Methods section to view any payment methods associated with the donor.
  4. Review or Delete Payment Methods

    • The listed payment methods show what is currently on file.
    • Click the ellipsis (⋮) menu next to a payment method to delete it if needed.

Viewing Payment Methods on Transactions

To see which payment method was used for a specific transaction:

  1. Go to the Transaction Record

    • Open the donor's transaction history and select the relevant transaction.
  2. Scroll to the "Transaction Details" Section

    • The Payment Method field will display the payment method used for that transaction.

Viewing Payment Methods on a Recurring Plan

To see which payment method is associated with a recurring donation:

  1. Open the Recurring Plan Record

    • Navigate to the donor's recurring plan under their supporter record.
  2. Scroll to "Transaction Details"

    • The Payment Method field will display the payment method used for the recurring plan.

Changing a Payment Method on a Recurring Plan

  1. Click "Edit" on the Recurring Plan

    • Inside the recurring plan details, click the Edit button.
  2. Select "Payment Method"

    • Click on the Payment Method field.
  3. Add a New Payment Method

    • Enter the new payment details and save the changes.
