This feature gives nonprofits the ability to direct donors to more specific unsubscribe pages—either for a single communication list or for all lists across the organization. It ensures donors have more control and clarity over their email preferences, helping reduce full opt-outs and retain engagement.
🔧 How It Works
There are now two unsubscribe variables available when creating email templates:
Variable | What it does | Where it leads |
---|---|---|
|
Global unsubscribe page | Allows the donor to manage all communication preferences, including global opt-out. |
|
List-specific unsubscribe | Directs the donor to manage their subscription for one specific communication list only. |
📌 Use Cases
-
Use
when you want donors to be able to control all communication preferences.
-
Use
if you’re sending an email tied to one specific communication list (e.g., "Weekly Updates") and want them to only unsubscribe from that.
💡 Best Practices
-
Include
in emails that are part of targeted campaigns (e.g., newsletters, staff updates) to reduce the likelihood of full opt-out.
-
Use
in broader communications where a donor may want more granular control.
🔍 What the Donor Sees
-
If you use
, donors land on a page where they can:
-
Toggle on/off subscriptions for each list (e.g., Weekly Updates, Other Communications).
-
Globally unsubscribe from all lists.
-
Mark themselves as “Do Not Contact”.
-
-
If you use
, the donor is taken directly to a simplified page for that one list. There’s no risk of them unsubscribing from unrelated updates.
