Email templates in WeGive provide a powerful tool for branding and consistency in your donor communications. By customizing templates, you can ensure that every email reflects your organization’s look and feel while delivering personalized content through merge tags. Whether used for one-time messages or linked to triggers, email templates save time and maintain a professional appearance in all your outreach efforts.

How to Customize Email Templates in WeGive

Overview:
Email templates in WeGive ensure your communications are consistent and aligned with your brand. Use them for both one-time and triggered messages.

Step 1: Access the Email Templates Tab

  1. Go to the Engagement tab in your dashboard.

  2. Select Email Templates.

Step 2: Create or Edit a Template

  1. Click the blue + icon to create a new template.

  2. Choose from the following options:

    • Base Templates: Choose from a suite of customizable pre-designed templates.

    • Custom Templates: Upload your own HTML template.

  3. Use the email editor to customize:

    • Add images, colors, and branding.

    • Add the body of your email directly into the template.

    • Use merge tags to add contextualized donor data.

Step 3: Manage Templates

  1. To edit existing templates, access them from the Email Templates tab.

  2. If a template is tied to a trigger, edit it directly from the Trigger itself to ensure the updates apply.

*** Note ***
Editing your email templates directly from the Email Templates tab will not automatically update the templates attached to your Triggered emails. You will need to manually reattach your updated email templates to the trigger.

Tips for Email Templates

  • Test your templates before linking them to triggers by clicking Send Test to receive a test email to your own inbox.

  • Use the Preview as Donor feature to check personalization. The preview feature will pull dummy data from the donor's first transaction in the WeGive system.

  • Reattach updated templates to triggers for consistency.
