Static Custom Fields remain constant and are ideally used for data that doesn't change frequently, such as donor preferences.

To create a Custom Field under the Data tab in the left navigation bar and click Create New.

Select Donors, enter an internal Custom Field name, select Static as the Custom Field type, and then enter the value and field type of the data you desire to collect.

In this example, I am collecting data about the type of volunteer opportunities my supporters are interested in.

Static Custom Field data can be obtained from wherever there are custom questions used in the Donor Portal (i.e. checkouts, forms) by mapping the answers to the Custom Field variable.

The answer to the Static Custom Field can be displayed as a contextualized variable.

In this example, I am pulling in the answer to which volunteer opportunity the supporter chose as their preference in the message.

The answer can also be used as an Audience Rule group.

For example, I could send this message only to supporters who selected "Hospitality" as the answer to Volunteer Opportunity question on the checkout.

How do I map my Custom Field answer to Salesforce?

To map the answer of your custom field to your integration, you can use the API Name of the field you created (i.e. CF_7_volunteer_opportunities) and add it into your integration's mapping rules.
